Dropping off or Picking up Students: Please drop off or pick up students in areas designated by the school. Drive cautiously and carefully while in school parking lots.Do not double-park in order to drop off or pick up your child. If you are dropping your child off on the street, please be sure to PULL TO THE CURB before letting your child exit the car. Students should USE THE DOOR ON THE CURB SIDE to exit safely.
Shaw Arrival and Dismissal
- We continue to use the front gate of the school for grade 1-3 arrival and dismissal, and the side gate on Dahlia Place for grade 4-6 arrival and dismissal. Students are to arrive between 8:15-8:30.
- TK and K students will use the gate at the kindergarten classrooms. Students are to arrive between 8:15-8:30.
- Please meet your child at the assigned gate each day at dismissal (or plan a meeting area). If you have students exiting both gates, please have your older child walk around the Dahlia sidewalk to meet the younger student in the front. (At the parking lot/front gate)
Shaw Parking Lot
- The right, drop-off lane in the parking lot is open for morning arrival.
- The parking lot is closed for afternoon pick-up. Please plan your arrival for pick-up each day to accommodate the need to park on the street near the school and walk to pick up your child.
Parking in the Neighborhood: If parking in the school neighborhood, please park only in legal parking spaces. Please do not block driveways or park in front of fire hydrants or on a corner. If walking to school through the neighborhood, please be sure to use sidewalks and not cut across a neighbor’s lawn or property.
Stopping for a School Bus: Per California law, drivers must stop for a school bus if the bus stops in front of them and has flashing red lights and its stop sign extended. Oncoming drivers must also do the same.
